Excellent composition, tones and detail in this very interesting image Clifford. Hope these three sentinels can remain standing as they look quite majestic lined up together. A beautiful capture.

Debra Plett

Amazing prairie capture and story Clifford. Great colour against the soft blue sky really makes one want to be there in person. I agree whole-heartily with Yves, the distant train cars exiting the frame complet the composition.

Thanks Debra, your comments are much appreciated. These prairie sentinels once played such an important part of our history

Yves Langlois

Thanks to the photo-reporter for the appreciated historic story. Not only a great shot but a great documentary Clifford. Very meaningful photo, as usual. Half of the photo is an harvested prairie that link to the elevators. Nice that you choose colored one still in action. Don't know if you waited log to get the train wagons but it was a must to complete the line-up.

Jeff

Veary nice grat Coloer good detaling Clifford

Clifford Dupuis

Thank you so much Jeff

Description
The sight of 3 elevators on the Alberta Prairie is quickly disappearing as more and more are lost to vandalism, fire and decay. The Parish & Heimbecker (foreground), is still standing but in need of attention. The Pioneer Grain elevator (centre) was upgraded with a new roof, replacement of missing siding and a fresh coat of paint in 2020. Finally, the former Searle Grain Elevator, later sold to United Grain Growers and is now in private ownership. It was reclad in 2011. All three were built in the 1930’s along with the CPR Lomond Subdivision.
