Yves Langlois

Thank you Jeff.

Heather Mellon

What a great spot to photograph them on and I love how relaxed they look standing on that rocky ledge above the water. Very nice composition and detail in this capture and I appreciate the narrative too.

Yves Langlois

Thank you Heather. Agree with you, this is my prefered spot for cormorants images. Since there are often many of them it create lots of various situations. Always a pleasure to sit and watch them.

Debra Plett

Great shot Yves, nice to see the colourful adult and the juvenile together. Your narrative explains the image well. That looks like a great place to take pictures and enjoy nature. Nicely captured.

Yves Langlois

Thanks Debra. Yes, this is the spot where they like to sunbath. Always many of them. They are at a fair distance for the 400mm and the sun is in in my back. The rich blue colour of the adult is for the mating season. After that it return to a pith black.

Virginia Anne MacDonald

I love cormorants. They are so amazing and they have that pteradactyl look to them

Yves Langlois

Thank you Virginia Anne. Greatly appreciate your comment. They are very interesting bird to photograph all the summer long.

Description
Here is a good opportunity to show the difference between the grown-up double-crested cormorant (left) and an immature from last year (right). Unless I am totaly wrong, the one on the right will transform this summer.
