Thank you Clifford. I went back to this marsh but couldn't find him so he must have moved on already. I certainly do feel lucky to have gotten this shot.

I love it as you start to hear the sounds and see the formations of geese in the sky. Great capture of the White fronted goose mingling with the Canada geese. Well composed and captured Heather.

Thank you Debra.. this was such a long shot and if I had known at the time what kind of goose this was I would have waited until he got closer for a better capture. It gives me a good excuse to return to this marsh though..

Thank you so much Yves. It was the pose that caught my eye too but I didn't realize at the time what kind of goose it was.. and I agree with you that the cool ice tones add a special element to photography at this time of year.

Wow! Gorgeous shot Heather. You got the white fronted goose on a great pose. Little cloud of white ice makes a very good surrounding for the birds. Glad you present a shot with cold air, water and ice. The brightness of the colours confirm what I think about these condition of shooting.

Description
A lone White-fronted goose makes his way across an ice covered marsh past a group of Canada geese towards open water. This was my first sighting and capture of this particular species of goose who stood out nicely with his orange colored legs and feet.
