Thanks Jeff.. I had fun getting this one :)

Very pretty image Heather. I really like how the soft grey tones of her body are slightly darker than the background. She probably knows that you are the one leaving the seed and is happy to see you and to let you take a few pictures. Stay warm.

Thank you so much Debra. The spruce trees in behind really darken the image and we've had very little sun lately either, so it's a bit of a challenge getting good light for these shots. I think they do realize who is providing them a little extra and I'm more than happy to do so too.. I'm trying my best to stay warm :)

Like very much that shot Heather. Unusual. The kind I like to do myself. The bird blends in the overall compo with an interesting balance. Like very much the effect produced by the overall capture.

Thank you so much Yves, I really appreciate what you saw in this image. Most birds don't like anything pointed at them but she tolerated that and my presence beneath her really well. I wanted to get a different angle on her and was very happy that she let me get this one with a see through view of her.

Description
A female Pine Grosbeak takes a pause in her busy day just surviving winter. We've had a long and very cold spell here since mid-December and it's not easy for any of the birds having to cope with frigid temperatures, bitter wind chills and heavy snowfall 24/7. I've taken to feeding them sunflower seeds on the snow, since they don't use the feeders, to help them through this endless cold snap.
