Thank you so much Jeff. They're lovely birds to have around aren't they. I look forward to seeing them every year. Unfortunately once the seeds are gone they'll move on again.

Stunning composition with vibrant colour Heather. love how they are separated by a single spruce sprig. Great capture.

Thank you so much Debra. I couldn't have asked for nicer poses or better conditions to capture them in. It really was a special few moments for me and I'm sure you can relate to that.

Gorgeous one Heather. For the beautyful colours of the birds, the simplicity of the compo with just those few branches and the profound blue. Love the sharp focus too. Very nice capture.

Thank you so much Yves. I'm just glad that I stopped when I did because I missed several golden opportunities like this recently. I love having these birds around in winter because they're so beautiful and enjoyable to hear as they chatter amongst themselves in the tree tops.

Description
A pair of Pine Grosbeaks pose pretty for me atop a spruce tree. They are the largest member of the Finch family. They're also found in subalpine evergreen forests from eastern Asia to Scandinavia. The oldest recorded Pine Grosbeak was a male, and at least 9 years, 9 months old when he was found in Quebec in 1970. He was first captured and banded in Connecticut in 1961.
