Agree very much with Yves, great timing on catching the beautiful pose of the male and the action by the female. Perfect focus…beautifully captured Heather.

Thank you Debra. I haven't had an opportunity like this in several years so it was a special treat to capture them out in the open again. They usually stay close to the ash trees or in the bush nearby.

Like that one too. Meaningful pose of the male looking back at the female (I presume) Great lighting of the male that stands out well and just the bright orange head of the female.

Thank you Yves. I love how they interact with one another and keep in constant contact with one another. They're interesting birds to watch and fun to photograph.

Description
I had just returned from my backyard where the Grosbeaks feed every winter on the seeds of our old black ash trees and found there were none to be seen. As I paused in front of my house I spotted them at one of the feeders where the view was spotty at best. Fortunately for me something spooked them and they flew up into a spruce tree right in front of me giving me some very nice poses against a clear blue sky.
