The fog gave you a nice monochrome background to work with and I like very much how the colorful markings of the mallards stand out against it here. A beautiful flight shot, Yves.
Thank you for your appreciated comment Heather. It is always a delight when shooting conditions produce an unusual result. I understand that the background is black and white but it is still a mystery that only the bright colours (blue, green, yellow) appears. All the browns didn't.
I noticed that too and wonder if the the effects of the fog diffused the softer brown tones more than the brighter yellow and blue primary colours, plus the reflective green color on the neck feathers of the male mallard. Just guessing though. The best part is that it occurred naturally and not in Photoshop :)
Thank you very much Clifford. And a nice story too. One of those surprise moments that keep the photographer happy.
Super shot Yves. I do like the almost black and white look with just a touch of colour in the mallard couple. This image has a very tranquil mood for me. I like how you captured them flying off together into the fog. beautifully captured.
Thank you very much Debra. They surprised me so it was a kind of fast blind shot. Glad that the autofocus function well. Like very much the pose of the two birds. specialy the wings down of the female.
