Wonderful shot Heather, they have a very interesting pattern and are quite colourful. Do you think the moth was attracted to the dandelion. I am glad you had the opportunity to get the photograph.

Heather Mellon

Thank you, Debra. I'm sure the dandelion caught his eye because I saw him land and he went right over to it. I was surprised and delighted at how colorful he was because you can't see the brightly colored tail section when they're flying.

Harold Fleming

Colourful indeed, Heather! Nice, clear front end on this closeup. The front has a bit of a spider look to it. I apologize if your not fond of spiders.

Heather Mellon

Thank you, Harold. I have no problem with spiders because I like them very much and enjoy featuring them in my photos too.

Yves Langlois

Great capture Heather. Agree with you, very beautyful. Aprreciate the sharp focus on the head and legs.

Heather Mellon

Thank you, Yves.

Description
These are incredibly colorful and beautiful moths and it's not often I've been able to get a good look at one, let alone photograph it. I lucked out when this one landed on top of a garbage bin in my yard with a dandelion leaf and a yellow power cord laying on top of it.
