Jeff

good one of that butter fly on the board great detailing

Debra Plett

Love the contrast of colours against the plank of wood. The strip of orange along the wings reminds me of sunset colours stretching along the horizon. Beautifully captured Heather.

Thank you so much Debra. They're like a flash of orange when they fly across the landscape and I've chased a lot of them without any good results because they almost always fold their wings upon landing. I think the heat slowed him down for this shot :)

Yves Langlois

Terrific colors Heather. We don't have that kind here. He really shows well against the old grey plank. Nice capture.

Heather Mellon

Thank you so much Yves, they help make up for not having Monarchs in this region. That's a butterfly I would love to see and photograph.

Harold Fleming

Very nice exposure, Heather. You always take a great photo of them. I would love to see some of these butterflies on Haida Gwaii. Our moths aren't so colourful.

Heather Mellon

Thank you Harold, much appreciated. They are nice and colorful aren't they but I think Haida Gwaii has a lot of beautiful wildlife we don't see here either.

Description
We're in the middle of a heat wave here and the butterflies are loving it. These little guys are usually flighty but this one sat for several minutes soaking up the hot sun while I took advantage of the opportunity.
