Great shot at your favorite bird Debra. You captured it with a very nice pose of the wings. I recognize the nest with the orange flag. Glad the little family is back and healty.

I was happy to see their safe return as well. I am looking forward to documenting their journey in Manitoba again. Much appreciate your comments Yves.

Perfect timing on this excellent shot Debra.. not something we get to photograph all that often either. Interesting narrative too.

Debra Plett

Thanks Heather always appreciate your feedback.

Harold Fleming

Well shot, Debra and great commentary as well. It's nice to know something about the birds and animals we love to photograph so much.

Debra Plett

Thank you Harold. I have become quite interested with the life of these beautiful birds.

Description
The male Osprey returned to the nest and immediately started to mate with the female Osprey. Unfortunately the nest is so deep you are unable to see her in these pictures. According to what I have read she should lay the egg the morning after they have had a successful mating. The female will then incubate the egg(s) for 37 days after they have been laid. A more mature female/couple can lay as may as four eggs. Last year this couple/nest raised three chicks successfully. These images were taken on May 1st at the Inland gravel pit.
