Description
I've been absent from these pages for a week or so - tracking down some shots for the Nikon contest. This is one - I watched over the entire summer as this gorgeous creature grew from a mere speck to adult size. I was even lucky enough to catch the timid, tentative approach of much smaller male as he made his advances and overtures to mate with her. I guess he succeeded for a month or so after I took this shot, she began laying down eggs and cocooning them in her silk. Then she was gone.
