These little guys aren't always easy to photograph but I like the way you approach them to get the perfect shot Yves.. you gave the viewers some great pointers together with a great shot.

Yves Langlois

Thank you Heather. That way of checking all around me for a little something give to my walks a very slow pace. but I like it that way. It allow to be in touch with Mather nature.

Debra Plett

Nicely seen and captured Yves. Unless that little guy was buzzing my head I would have missed it.

Yves Langlois

Thank you Debra. I guess my many years of expérience with the 100mm-MACRO serves me. At a distance, that little one look like the dryed border of a leaf like there was many all over the place. Why that particular one attracted me? A gut feeling suggess me to go check that dried border.. What I did, approaching slowly not to affray if there was really something. Then I had to bachup and find a good place to shoot whith the 400mm. Of course, good details could not be obtain without a good croping. But the focus was sharp and I can count on the quality of the lens.

Debra Plett

Hi Yves, I like your technique used thx for taking the time to explain.

Yves Langlois

My pleasure Debra.

Harold Fleming

You did a great job with a 400mm bringing this mosquito into focus, Yves. I am also a member of inaturalist.com which labels all species in nature. Would you give me permission to submit this photo to them to get a name. I will give the credit to you for the photo.

Yves Langlois

No problemo Harold. Do wathever you want with the photo. I will be please to know what it is if you have a chance.

Harold Fleming

Yves, I found out that this is a Plume Moth ( Family Pterophoridae) Genus (Sphenarches). I don't follow the scientific names myself but I included them here.

Yves Langlois

Thank you Harold, well appreciated.

Jenny Stevens

Very tiny indeed Yves. Thank you for this nice shot.

Yves Langlois

Thank you Jenny. As long as there is a special encounter once in a while, the photographer is happy.

Description
Walking the nature is my favorite way to special encounters. Here is an amazing kind of moskito. Very tiny. Not easy to shoot with the 400mm but if the focus is sharp enough, with cropin, the subject reveal all its interest.
