Thanks Hasan.

Another great shot, Debra! The white markings around the eyes make you stare straight into the eyes. Getting close to this creature must be fantastic.

I am pretty excited to have spotted this owl and be able to take a few pictures. I am really hoping there is a mate and the couple will stick around. I have not seen the nest yet, could be deep in the forest.

Jane LeBlanc

Great job, Debra. I've never seen one in the wild, so lucky you!!

Debra Plett

Thanks Jane, this is my first Great Grey Owl that I have seen in Birds Hill park as well.

Description
I have spotted this gorgeous Great Grey Owl a couple of times over the last two weeks. Most times the owl is either too far away or takes off before I can get a picture of him/her. Today I was able to get this picture before he/she flew to another tree about 500 yards to another wooded area. I am not sure if this is the same owl as the previous picture or if it is possibly the mate. From what I have read the male and female markings are identical and the female is the larger of the two.
