Description
Purple Gallinules are seldom seen in Ontario. This young bird showed up at the Blenheim Sewage Lagoons in late August, 2020. It spent a lot of its time skulking in the bulrushes and Phragmites along the shoreline, but on one occasion I was able to get to a spot where it was more out in the open. Dozens of birders from southern Ontario and beyond travelled to see it, and most people did.
