This is the northern lights over Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. The big dipper can be seen near the upper right side.
Funny story: There was a strange wailing/barking sound directed at me while I was there. It was pitch black and it sounded like a ghost. I could tell it was on the beach with me. Then it did it again and it was so strange I thought "that can't be a dog, what the heck is it?" I could see a pair of eyes in the flashlight beam but that was it. After the next wailing noise I checked again and found that it was a red tailed fox! It went about its business and was probably just used to having the beach to himself.
