Preening mallard drake.

Description
Most of the winged wildlife have begun their migration South, but a few are still lingering in Montreal's nature parks. This male mallard is preening at dusk on a lake in Parc Angrignon. I was a bit to the side of the setting sun to bring out the details of the ruffled plumage against the sunlight. The head is hidden in the wing and the duck's body takes on the shape of a ball of feather.
