Description
A wild Northern Saw-whet Owl being banded at Pedder Bay, BC.
We saw 7 owls that night between 7:45 pm and 9:00 pm. The volunteer banders remained until 1:30 am. The previous night they banded 40 owls during that time span, which was a good night's work.
Last year during the month and a half of banding a little over 200 owls were banded. With several weeks to go yet, they have banded 282 owls this year and most of those have been born this year. This means their population is increasing.
