Taking a Break

by Sheri Rypstra from Sidney CA on 10 Nov 2017

An American Dipper taking a break from searching for roe in Goldstream Provincial Park, BC. Although it was a bright overcast day when we were there, this one had come out of the water in a very dark and secluded spot. I wasn't sure at all my camera/box would be able to get a decent shot. It was standing on the eroded root/soil clump of a young tree clinging to precarious life along the stream bank. The tree overhung this spot shortly above the frame, creating a perfect dark and secluded area for the Dipper to keep an eye on things while it took a preening break.
