Shedding the Velvet I find moose so amazing that they can grow these new, sometimes massive antlers every year and shed them. Every year right before the rut the bull moose will shed the velvet which supply's the nutrients and oxygen for the antlers to grow. They shed this by thrashing trees and other objects so they can exposure the hardened bone which the bull moose will use to spar other bulls in his area. Thank you for viewing and feel free to share.
