The Chinese Mantid is not native to North America, but is plentiful across the landscape. If you are a small invertebrate in a grassland or shrubby setting, you will have to look out for this critter! Here it has its grasp on a Wooly Bear caterpillar, and is proceeding to munch away while the caterpillar's struggles get weaker and weaker.
