It won't be long before the Yellow-headed Blackbirds are back. They are fairly rare in southwestern Ontario, but for the last few years, a small colony has shown up along Lake St. Clair. Here is a male in 'song'. Their 'song' is really a very loud, raucous and unmusical series of notes.....at least to human ears. There is no other species in Canada that sounds like this so it is easy to pick them out even from a distance.
