Description
I think I can safely say that this was the most
challenging, and the best photo I have taken in
the almost 20 years I have been a
photographer. Not to mention - I probably
looked like a crazy person dancing around my
yard (from 10pm - 3:30am) every night for a
week straight. If my stoner of a neighbour
happened to see me, he probably thought I
was chasing something invisible for hours on
end. He probably had himself a good trip at my
expense. Joke’s on him. I wasn't chasing
anything invisible. I was chasing fireflies, and I did in fact manage to
photograph a lightning bug in complete
darkness. And it only took several nights, lack
of sleep, lots of gas money to drive from home
to the cabin, and hundreds of out of focus and
out of frame photos to do so.
By the third night of trying and getting really
frustrated - I began to get a rhythm going, and
managed to get a few more in-flight shots. I will
post those soon, and explain how I did it. I'm
posting this one now to prove to myself that
maybe I didn't fully lose it during my cringey
"spiritual firefly/authentic movement dance
routine" that went on for 7 nights.
